Welcome to Venus Class - Year 1

We hope you have had a super Summer and are ready to begin your exciting journey in Year 1.  

This term we will be focusing on YOU.  

Who are you? What do you look like? What do you like doing?  If you want to bring anything in that helps build up this picture of you then please do,  For example, a photo of you doing a hobby, a certificate of achievement, Whatever it is we would love to see it. 

In Year 1 we continue to develop the children's learning through independent exploration while delivering the necessary curriculum expectations.  

Phonics will continue daily, following the Little Wandle programme. 

English will focus on developing independent writing using their knowledge of phonics and tricky words.

Maths begins with understanding number and moves quickly onto addition and subtraction.

Home Reading books:

If you have given permission via Mrs Mansell, our new Little Wandle books will now be sent home for home reading.

We will send them home on a Monday. They will be changed the following Monday. They MUST be in school EVERY DAY for reading groups.

(Due to their expense, any books not returned or damaged will incur a £3.50 fine)

Purple Mash Logins

All Venus children will receive a Purple Mash login if they havent already got one.  We will look at this in class but feel free to have a go at logging in at home and exploring the website!
